Game Operator (part-time)

Title: Game Operator
Position Type: part-time
Compensation: Starting: $18.63/hr; After 1 year: $20.33/hr; automatic biannual cost-of-living raises.
Location: New Haven, CT
As a Game Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of our guests’ games by greeting & onboarding teams and ensuring each game room is reset, clean, and ready for incoming teams. You may also be part of the operational team for our traveling games. As you become familiar with the games, you will be trained to operate them (offerings hints and troubleshooting). You will also share & learn new fabrication skills and contribute to the creation of new puzzles and props.
At Escape New Haven, we have been innovating in the escape room industry since 2014. You will join a talented staff with a variety of skill sets, interests, and accomplishments. Our team is made up of engineers, artists, musicians, gamers, professional D&D DMs, performers, theatre techies, electricians… and even a few humans.
Scheduling Needs/Offerings
Tuesday: Day/Evening Shift (10:00-6:00PM/8:00PM)
Thursday: Day Shift (10:00AM-6:00PM)
Friday: Day Shift (12:00PM-6:00PM)
Saturday: Evening/Night Shift (5:30PM-10:30PM/Midnight)
Sunday: Day/Evenings Shift (Noon-6PM/8PM)
Additional “Coverage” Shifts Available on case-by-case basis.
  • Genuine love of helping and serving others
  • Confidence speaking in front of large groups of people
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to responsibly handle challenging situations and perform multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to quickly develop proficiency in new tools and technology
  • Familiarity with and interest in escape rooms, games/puzzles, and/or immersive entertainment
  • Greeting players and briefing teams
  • Facilitating the end-of-game experience (debrief, team photo, etc.)
  • Resetting games with 100% accuracy
  • Making spot repairs/replacements when needed
  • Maintaining a welcoming and clean atmosphere in our common spaces
  • Operating our traveling team-building games: Wreck Havoc, Zachariah’s Marvelous Invention, and Vanishing Island
